Tanzania Expedition

Give Generously

A message from Coco and friends:

In February 2014, 6 students from the British International School of Shanghai Pudong will be flying to Tanzania in Africa to take part in the Global Classroom Expedition. We, the chosen students, will be joined by other students from Nord Anglia schools from around the world including BISS Puxi. The main goal of this trip is to allow students to come together and work collaboratively to help the development of the Arusha region. This includes assisting at local schools and communities and completing renovations which will hopefully improve the lives of many in need.

As a group, we have a fundraising goal of 35 000 RMB; and in order to achieve this we have already held various activities such as selling refreshments and snacks at the school's bonfire night. However, this does not bring us anywhere close to reaching our target. We have a new initiative called Raffle For Africa - Art Exchange Project.

It is a prize draw with a chance to win an original piece of artwork from a child at a local orphanage in Tanzania. A representative from Nord Anglia Education is going to the camp and is helping us to ask each child to do a drawing of various aspects of their lives. The artwork will then be personally brought back to China from England.

50 RMB buys one ticket and a chance to own one of the pieces of art and a chance to positively impact the life of one of these children.

We will announce the winners of the Raffle for Africa during a celebratory evening in mid-January. Photos of the event and the winners holding their artwork will be shared with the children once we arrive in Africa. What's more, we are planning an Art Exchange where students from BISS will create pieces of artwork inspired by their home country which we will bring to the local orphanage in Africa to brighten the walls of their classrooms and dormitories.

Tickets will be available during the Christmas Bazaar and we will also send home forms for you to complete and send back a donation. Please help us make a difference to the African children that we will be visiting next year.
