Message from Primary - 18th November

Dear Parents,

In our assembly last Thursday Mr Scrymgeour talked to the Primary students about World Kindness Day which took place on Sunday 13th November. Since we were not at school on Sunday, or Monday for that matter, we therefore decided to have our own version of NAIS Kindness Day on Tuesday, when the children returned from their long weekend.

  • assembly

During the day, all the children pulled a name out of a hat and then were asked to write something kind about that particular person. The children could then also choose someone they wanted to write about. The children wrote their comment on a post it note and then went and stuck it on the child’s school locker. The note was anonymous so that the receiving child did not know who had written it.

There were some wonderful comments written by the students, that varied from ‘You always ask me to play’, to ‘You always have a smile on your face’, to ‘I think you are really good at reading’. Not only were there some lovely comments, but it was also fantastic to see the children’s faces when they read their comments. The students loved the activity so much, they even asked if they could do it every day, to which the teachers replied that they should of course, share kind words and thoughts daily, and that they didn’t need to wait until they were given a post it note to do it.

So, with such a lovely start to the week, it has been great to see our students and teachers continuing to use their kind words and actions with each other.

‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’ Aesop

Have a lovely weekend.
