English

Next week in English, we will be editing and improving our work to display in our exhibition. We will be using the six edit checklist to ensure our best work is displayed. We will also be focusing on improving our grammar. We will be learning to identify which indefinite article should be written in front of a word – a or an. For example: a carrot, an apple. We will also be using the present perfect form of verbs in contrast to the past tense. We will  sort words into the past and present tense and will write sentences using the correct tense.

In Guided reading, we will be focusing on writing a book review of a story we have read.

Maths

Next week in Maths we will begin learning to tell the time. This can be a notoriously difficult concept for many children however we hope to give them a good start. We will begin by reading and telling the time on an analogue clock, with times ranging from o' clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to and extending some children to read the time to the nearest minute. We will progress to looking at 24 hour times and converting 12 hour to 24 hour times and vice versa. You can support your child by asking them the time focusing only on the times mentioned above.

Topic

Next week, we will begin to plan and prepare for our Exit Point which is on Tuesday 6th December. The children will decide what work they want to display and what activities our guests would like to participate in. They will also make adjustments to their models to display.

In Computing we will continue to use ‘Scratch’. We will continue using more tools such as adding sounds, backgrounds and motion to create our own Scratch animations.
