Message from Primary

Dear Parents,

The countdown to Christmas has truly begun, and since yesterday the Primary teachers have been playing Christmas music in their classrooms and getting in the festive spirit. This was of course helped by our Christmas Bazaar last week and it was fantastic to see so many of our families join us for the day and take part in our Christmas Games which each year group had prepared. From ‘Guess Santa’ in Year 6 to ‘Feed Santa’ in Early Years, there was a game to suit everyone and all the teachers really enjoyed seeing their students participate.

Today was our first Christmas Performance, on a slightly smaller scale than those to come, with our youngest Pre-Nursery children signing Christmas songs with their parents and teachers. Their singing was so beautiful that Santa Claus even stopped by to see all the children! They then enjoyed a special lunch with their mums and dads. You can read more about our Pre-Nursery Sing-along on our Early Years page.

Next week (Tuesday 6th December- 9.00am) the rest of our Early Years children take to the stage in their performance of ‘The Nativity’. I know they have been practising hard and are very excited to perform to their parents. As are our Infants children who will be performing a week later in their performance ‘Lights, Camel, Action!’. This will have a slightly different take on the Christmas story we are all familiar with and for any ‘dance’ fans, I think we may be treated to a tango or a waltz along the way. Our Infant performances will take place on Monday 12th December at 1.30pm and Tuesday 13th December at 6.00pm.

Whilst there may only be two weeks to go, teaching and learning is still busy going on in each of our classrooms and some of our topics are now drawing to an end. In Year 3, our students will be sharing their learning next Tuesday of ‘Inventions that changed the world’. I can’t wait to go and see the different inventions our students have been creating!

Next week will be the final week of our term one CCAs and the primary students were very lucky yesterday to see the work that had been going on in Mr Trayte’s Drama Pantomime CCA. We witnessed a very talented group of students portray a variety of versions of the famous fairytale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. They ranged from the three bears going for a walk in the forest and then simply returning home for breakfast to Goldilocks carrying a ‘comfort’ trumpet named Trumpy, unsure how to get into the three bears’ home. All of the students displayed tremendous confidence in performing in front of their peers and families and I’m sure are destined for fame in the future. There will be the opportunity to join another of Mr Trayte’s Drama CCAs next term.

Until next week, I wish you a relaxing weekend and look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events.

Best wishes,

Lisa Passante

Head of Primary
