Our IB Art students have been working very hard during their time at NAIS Pudong and tonight we will see them present a wonderful spectacular in the Exhibition Space in the Performing Arts Centre. This year, the students have had to build, as part of their IB course requirements for the first time, the entire gallery; from the framing of their work, to mounting it and then installing all of the extra walls. I have been very excited watching all of their work and the gallery starting to develop and come to life.
There are some extremely interesting pieces of work and also each student has a totally different theme. Congratulations should go to the Art Department for their dedication in helping the students prepare the huge amount of work for this event. I personally know how many hours they have all put in during the week and at the weekends. The Exhibition Space will be open tonight from 6pm for the Opening Viewing - please take the opportunity to pop in and have a look at the work and enjoy some light refreshments.
Following on from this event will be the International Music Concert starting at 7pm. This concert will see pieces being performed from countries around the world. The concert sees our school Orchestra perform for the first time this academic year and there will also be performances from the Rainbow Review, Cantabella, IB Choir, Community Choir and then a few soloists. The event tonight should be a fantastic way to round off the International events this week, and also to round off what has been such a hectic and rewarding term for us in the Arts Department.
I do hope that all pupils, parents and staff have enjoyed the events that have taken place this term and we look forward to next term where we have a Stage and Screen concert on May 12th and then the Horrible History performances in June. Thank you to all members of staff and parents that have assisted at our many events this term and we hope to see more of you involved in the new term.
Mr Phillip Bailey
Director of Music and The Arts
