English

As we continue with Kensuke's Kingdom children will move on to studying chapters 7 & 8. As with last week, we will develop children's understanding of emotive and figurative language and also focus on empathising with the characters in the book as we see the development of the friendship of Michael and Kensuke. We will explore different ways of reading the book by using drama and story "whooshes".

Maths

Next week in maths we will continue to focus on the Euro 2016 tournament. Areas of maths covered will include data analysis, measures, co-ordinates and time. The students will be analysing lots of data from distance players have run, goals scored, number of visitors to games and profits made by UEFA on attendances.

Topic

As we move on with our Olympics topic, children are developing their understanding of the wider meaning and impact of the Olympic Games and discussing the role of athletes within the wider context of the games, as well as the meaning and use of logo’s, pictograms and internationally usable visuals. Children will begin to research the history of the games and learn the origin of this worldwide tradition.
