We will continue reading 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We will learn how to use apostrophes correctly. We will write questions to interview a character. We will look at the features of a diary and use these to help us write our own diary entry. We will read a range of texts, followed by answering questions to develop our comprehension skills.
Next week in Maths we will have exciting lessons linked to our Oceania countries (Fiji, Australia and New Zealand). Each Y3 teacher will teach one lesson to each class. We will solve addition and subtraction problems to plan a holiday to Australia but we must keep to the budget set. We will look at different time zones in each country and look at adding and subtracting from the hour hand. We will look at and compare data on the average temperatures in each country, as well as creating our own graphs.
We are very excited for next week, it is International Week! Y3 will focus on the continent of ‘Oceania’. The countries we will look at during the week are Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. We will complete a range of activities, such as, making aboriginal masks, learning to do the Haka and making fact files on our chosen countries. Your child will present their presentations to the class about their home or chosen country. This is part of their homework they received on Wednesday and must be completed by Monday 26th September so they have the opportunity to share with their peers.
During the week, the children will complete activities with other Y3 teachers and mix with other children during the parade and food fair. To finish the week we will complete a treasure hunt around the school to complete a quiz about all the continents covered throughout the school.
In Computing, we will learn how to write and send an email to another person, including adding an attachment.
