Dear Parents,

What a super first week back we have had, with the start of new topics and visits taking place, as well as visitors coming into school.

The Year 1 children had a very special visitor on Monday when Elsa from Frozen came to speak to them as part of their entry point to their new topic Freeze it! As part of their topic they will now endeavor to help Elsa as they investigate how different materials freeze. Our Early Years, Year 1 and Year 3 students have also been fortunate to meet a special visitor today too. Stephen Swinburne, a published author has been to our school today to talk about his work as an author, but also read stories to our younger children – I can’t think of anything better for a Friday!

Year 2 have been offsite today, as they finish their Magic Toymaker topic, with a visit to Legoland. The children were very excited about their visit when they left this morning and I’m sure will be bubbling with stories on their return later today.

With the start of a new year, it is often a time for making resolutions, and in our first assembly of the term yesterday we talked about one possible resolution – Responsibility. We discussed what it meant to be responsible, and came up with the definition that it meant being accountable for our actions, whether it is something we say or do. We looked at different ways in which we could be responsible – looking after property; doing our homework on time without being nagged by our parents; being honest if we have made a mistake, and being someone that our friends could count on.

Next week our teachers are going to look out for students who have shown that they are responsible and hopefully we will be giving out some Star of the Week certificates to them.

Next week we also have our Academic Review Evenings, so if you are able to, please come along to meet your child’s teachers. Information on how to make an appointment was sent out at the beginning of the week, but if you have any further queries about this please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Wishing you a relaxing weekend.
