The girls were pleased with their performance and played well as a team.

NAIS Tigers U14 C2 Girls Volleyball Team Match Report

U14 Girls C2 Volleyball team played at Wellington College in their first league game of the season. The girls are developing their skills and team play. As the  progressed their confidence in serving, returning serves and playing as a team developed. The girls were pleased with their performance and know they have to continue to work hard to develop their serving, digging, setting and spiking. Overall a good start to the season.

NAIS Tigers C1 Boys Volleyball Team Match Report

The U14 boys C1 team played a good Wellington College team. In the game, the boys were serving well and defended well when receiving the serve. They did make some elementary mistakes at times, but as it is their first game, the boys will improve as the season progresses.

NAIS Tigers U9 Girls Netball Team Match Reports

Last Saturday was the first fixture meet for the NAIS Tigers U9 Netball teams.

Fairly new to sport, all of the girls did an excellent job remembering the rules, and all schools definitely improved throughout the day. In their first game against Dulwich Suzhou, the girls started a little rushed, giving the ball away a few times in the first half. However, in the second half, they focused on this and made better decisions when passing. Moving into their second game against Wellington, the main focus was to mark the ball and pass it to our shooters. NAIS had great success with this and the shooters rewarded their team mates with some accurate shooting in our attacking end. In our final game the girls were outstanding! All girls made big improvements, they were passing with better accuracy, our shooting was on point and we were attempting to win the ball. A great first weekend of netball!

NAIS Tigers U11 Netball Team Match Reports

On Saturday 11th February, the NAIS Tigers U11 Netball team took part in a mini netball tournament against Dulwich College Teams 3 and 4 and Wellington College in Suzhou.  All girls had a chance to play and try out the positions that suited them best. Each made an enormous amount of progress on the day.  With Lauren, Lou Anne and Megan in attack, they scored 15 goals between them; working the ball around the defence with more confidence and accuracy.  They were supported by the mid court players Jiwon, Salma, Charlotte, Jazmyn and Jenny who marked their partners very closely and worked on their dodges before receiving the ball.  In defence, we had ‘The Wall’ with Caroline and Bethany working expertly together as a team to prevent as many goals as possible and snatch rebounds.  The girls had a great day and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do next week.  We won two matches against Dulwich 3 and 4 (5-1 and 7-0) whilst the third against Wellington we narrowly missed out on with a 3-4 final score.

Match Report from Mrs Watson

WE EAT DULWICH FOR BREAKFAST……..

First 11-a-side game of the year for the D1 girls and it was Dulwich that had the difficult task of stepping into the Tigers’ den! Right from the start the girls were dominating with interwoven passes through the midfield -- mostly from Julia Jobst to the attackers, Jule and AnneFloor. Dulwich rarely ventured into the NAIS half, thanks to some excellent defending. Halfway into the half, Jule lobbed the ball over the Dulwich keeper from the edge of the area and made it 1-0. This was shortly followed by a cracking volley from Isa Burlamacchi, making the score line a fierce 2-0 by half time.

The second half was much the same, and Dulwich managed to pressure for about 15 minutes but proved futile against the NIAS strong defense. Jennifer Thornton was a stand out with some great headers. Finishing the scoring was Jule again, with a great low 18-yard strike and Sophie, who fired in a fierce shot from outside the box. Unstable this team were. Dulwich for breakfast – YES PLEASE and top it up with a glass of 4 goals. Tasty.
