Information and Reminders
There is an expectation that children should now be wearing the summer uniform. Please refer to our website or your child’s Learning Journal to check the appropriate clothing. You can visit our uniform shop to buy any items you may need.
In addition, kindly ensure that your child comes to school with an appropriate sun hat. Please ensure that sun lotion and mosquito repellent is applied at home before coming to school. We are unable to apply it at school.
Now we are in the last term of the Reception school year, we need to have a big focus on children learning their Rainbow Words. There are 6 sets that the children need to work through, learning to read these words by sight. It will be a great benefit for the children going into Year One for them to know as many of these as possible.
Please can you ensure that the children are reading their school books at home, even if it’s just for five minutes in the evening. Reading journals should have a comment or be signed to indicate that your child has read. Reading journals are checked every day and books will be changed on a Thursday if they have been signed three times.
Thank you for your continued support with the Rainbow Words and home reading throughout the year, it really does make a difference to your child’s learning.

Overview of Learning
This week we introduced the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ to the children and have been practising orally retelling this story. Next week we will perform this to the Pre Nursery and Nursery classes. Next week we will also create story maps, which will help us when writing out the story.
In maths we will introduce the concept of halving. The children will be practically cutting different objects in half and then going onto halving a number of objects.
