Preparing students with the right mindset

At Amman Academy, education goes beyond academics. Students develop the mindset to grow, adapt, and lead in a changing world.

In the Middle Years Programme (MYP), this shift is especially powerful. These are the years when students begin to explore who they are and what matters to them. For Zina Bata, MYP Principal, academic growth is only part of the picture. “Success at Amman Academy is definitely not related only to the achievement levels,” she says. “Students need to be principled, empathetic, caring to their community.”

Zina believes mindset matters. “It’s not just about content,” she explains. “It’s about helping students develop a mindset for the future... adaptable, confident, and ready.”

A space to grow and belong

That sense of readiness is built over time. For Saif Albayaydeh, a current student, it started with belonging. “I used to be a shy student,” he shares. “Now I speak my mind. I feel like I belong.”

His confidence didn’t come from one subject or lesson. It came from a school culture where students are encouraged to step forward, express themselves, and take ownership of their learning. At Amman Academy, the learning environment is designed to challenge students and support them at the same time.

Throughout the MYP years, students are taught how to think critically, reflect on their values, and work with others. These skills help prepare them for the IB Diploma and beyond, but they also shape how students approach life outside of school.

“Students today need more than just knowledge,” Zina says. “They need to think critically, take ownership, and be open to learning from different perspectives. That’s the kind of learner we’re building.”

Amman Academy’s commitment to growth mindset education is not an extra programme. It is embedded into every subject, every year group, and every relationship. And it starts with believing in what students can become.
