Future-Ready Education: Connecting Curriculum, Industry, and Community
Future Ready Education Connecting Curriculum Industry and Community

Message from our Assistant Head of Secondary, Paul Cochlin

The world our students are stepping into is evolving at an unprecedented pace. As educators, our mission is clear: to prepare students not just for exams, but for life in a dynamic global economy. At BIS Abu Dhabi, we are committed to delivering an innovative, forward-thinking curriculum that equips students with the skills and experiences they need to thrive in the future.

The Future of Work and Skills

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report, 39% of workers’ core skills are expected to change by 2030, driven by technological advancements, automation, and the green transition. The report highlights that AI and Big Data (+87%), networks and cybersecurity (+70%), and technological literacy (+68%) are among the fastest-growing technical skills. Equally important are human-centric capabilities such as creative thinking (+66%), resilience and adaptability (+66%), curiosity and lifelong learning (+61%), and leadership (+58%).

In short, the future won’t just reward those with academic credentials, it will reward those who can blend human creativity with digital intelligence, adapt to change, and solve complex problems.

Why Applied Learning Matters

This shift means that traditional education models, focused solely on academic attainment, are no longer enough. Our curriculum must be innovative, relevant, and deeply connected to real-world applications. That is why BIS Abu Dhabi places a strong emphasis on vocational and applied learning, ensuring students gain practical insights into the industries shaping tomorrow’s economy.

Early exposure to the world of work helps students make informed career choices and understand the relevance of their studies. It also builds confidence, adaptability, and a sense of purpose, qualities that employers increasingly value.

Parents as Partners: A Growing Impact

One of the most powerful ways we achieve this is through our Parents as Partners Programme, which continues to grow from strength to strength. Our parent community is rich with expertise across industries that our students aspire to join. By leveraging this knowledge, we create authentic learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

Already, we have seen the impact of this collaboration:

  • Guest speaker sessions that bring industry insights directly to students.
  • Workplace visits that offer a behind-the-scenes look at cutting-edge sectors.
  • Advisory roles where parents share expertise with our teaching staff to enrich curriculum design.

Future-Ready Education: Connecting Curriculum, Industry, and Community

These partnerships have not only deepened students’ understanding of the world of work, but also strengthened our school community and sense of belonging. Thus, facilitating our priority as a school in fostering a culture of collaboration where parents, teachers, and students work together to prepare BIS Abu Dhabi students for the future.

Looking Ahead

By continuing to build these connections and provide authentic learning opportunities, we ensure that our curriculum remains innovative, current, and forward-thinking, preparing every BIS Abu Dhabi student for success in the future economy.
