The Coquand Family

The Amundson Family

Originally from the U.S., the Amundson family joined BIS Abu Dhabi in 2022, seeking a more challenging and supportive learning environment for their children Emma (Year 11), Carter (Year 8), and Olivia (Year 6). Three years on, they’re thriving academically, emotionally, and socially.

Their mother, Sarah, shares how BIS Abu Dhabi’s warm and inclusive community made all the difference, from the friendly welcome at reception to the dedicated teachers who helped each child exceed expectations. “It’s a school where every child is seen,” she says.

Each child has flourished in their own way: Emma has embraced opportunities like the Duke of Edinburgh Award, BSME Dance, and a drama trip to New York. Carter overcame early challenges and recently competed in the BSME Golf Tournament. Olivia shines with her love of learning and positive attitude, and the whole family is excited for their youngest sibling, Liam, to start in Early Years in 2025.

 

 

The Déposé Family 

At the British International School Abu Dhabi, we believe the early years are where lifelong learning begins, and Sophia’s story is a powerful example. Now in Year 12 and pursuing the IB Diploma, Sophia reflects on her journey in our school from FS1, sharing how creativity, confidence, and curiosity were nurtured from the very start.

Her mother, Esther, and one of her former teachers, Ms. Doran, also share their perspectives, highlighting how BIS Abu Dhabi’s supportive and inspiring environment laid the foundation for Sophia’s success, both in and beyond the classroom.

A great place to learn. The teachers are very kind, helpful and creative. Their teaching style is unique, and the classes are always fun and engaging. My son studies there and is doing very well. For our family, BIS Abu Dhabi stands out because so much of life in expat communities is built upon recommendations. For key parts of life (job, school, where you live), the wrong choice can be the difference between staying in country or leaving. Therefore my recommendation of BISAD carries more weight than it would anywhere else, and it's built not only on my own impression and experience of the school, but also an awareness of the alternative school options in Abu Dhabi. BISAD has managed to retain the kind of community and family school feel that big schools can only dream of.
