Band Together for a Change (BTC), a student-led musical ensemble, wrote and composed an original composition to share light and hope in these uncertain times with the overall BIS Houston community.

Eugenie, a Year 13 student and one of the band's leaders, wrote "I wanted to create the lyrics in a way that showcased hope. There are many songs about grief, and to make the lyrics geared toward 'a new tomorrow,' I think, was the right option".

But how does a large group of students compose and record a song if we are all meant to be social distancing? They did it through Zoom and with lots of communication.

"We are used to playing together, and the long-distance track recording was very new to us," explained Idenya, a Year 12 student. "It took a lot of hard work to line each audio wave exactly so that it was in sync with everything else. Everybody communicated well as a team, and we managed to create music even while we were not physically with each other.

The song, Eugenie adds, is dedicated "to all the people in search for hope. We hope that this song can give them a little light."

Bravo Band Together for a Change! You should be proud of yourselves for this wonderful gift to the BIS Houston community.

Song Lyrics:

When the world, started to tremble

I came rushing

To the shore

Waiting for something more

I started to cry out,

There's only so much I can take

Before it's all gone

But I started to see

Waiting for the dawn

To show on

Wait for me

Where did I go wrong (2x)

Waiting for dawn

Show on

Wait for me

Oh Oh (2x)

----

When, the world

Started to tremble

I came

Oh Oh
