The British International School of Houston’s summer camp, known as ‘Camp Bulldog’, encourages your child to continue to grow through a variety of exciting summer skill-building activities. Camp Bulldog has been thoughtfully designed for kids from four years old and up in the Houston, Texas area.

Camp Bulldog continues the British International School of Houston’s learning beyond the classroom in this way, creating energising and memorable summer experiences.

DATES
Children may sign up for one week or all five weeks of camp, running from June 26th through July 28th, 2023. Camp will be closed on July 4th for American Independence Day.

TIME
Our Regular Day Camp runs from 9:00 am–3:00 pm. Our Extended Day runs from 7:30 am–5:30 pm.

LOCATION 

All of BIS Houston’s state-of-the-art facilities are available during Camp Bulldog. Our drop-off/pick-up location is in the parking lot near the tennis courts and turf/track field. Please pick up your child promptly to avoid a late fee.

COST
Regular Day Camp is $375 per week and Extended Day Camp is $500 per week. The costs include all activities, such as special events, swimming, dancing, snacks, and other activities. Lunch is not included and should be packed for your child.

Discounts

Don’t delay your child’s registration for Camp Bulldog. If you sign up by April, you’ll receive a 15% discount. If you sign up by May, you’ll receive a 10% discount.

Refunds

Parents may cancel their registration up to a month in advance of their child’s start date at Camp Bulldog. Refunds of the camp fees (minus the $100 processing fee) may only be made when written notice of cancellation and a request for the refund have been received with at least four weeks in advance of the start of your child’s camp(s).

Campers are grouped appropriately by their age for the different activities.

SNACKS AND LUNCH

Camp Bulldog provides nut-free snacks, including ice pops and drinks to keep cool in heat. Children should bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. On Fridays, Camp Bulldog provides a pizza party with karaoke.

CAMP BULLDOG’S SUMMER ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE

Campers may participate in arts, crafts, athletics, dancing, and swimming, as appropriate to their age. Each week has a specific theme and focus at Camp Bulldog.

Pioneer Land (June 26th–30th)
We explore life in the wild! Activities include performing leaf rubbings, making Davy Crockett hats, and creating solar ovens to make s’mores.

Jump into Action (July 3rd–7th)
We explore what it means to be an active member of your community! Activities include staying safe on or in water, creating a flotation device that will hold an egg, and designing gifts for a nursing home.

We explore the world in front of and behind the camera! Activities include making costume jewellery, creating your own musical instrument, and shooting your own short film.

We explore how to save our planet for future generations. Activities include create a rain cloud in a jar, making a diorama of planet earth, and a CSI Adventure: who littered?

We explore the natural world around us. Activities include making and decorating animal handprints, creating your own animal visor, and creating your own zoo.

FAQs

  • Is there before- and after-care at Camp Bulldog?
    Yes! You may sign up for extended care at the time of registration. Please be aware that two or more late pick-ups will incur an additional fee.
  • Does my child have to be a student at BIS Houston to enrol in Camp Bulldog?
    No, everyone is welcome to register.
  • What should I pack for my child each day?

    Please send your child to camp in comfortable clothing that they may be active in. Ensure they have athletic shoes (for example, no sandals, please).

    For pool days, your child should come to camp with their swimsuit on. Please pack a change of clothes, sandals, and a towel.

  • What supplies should I provide for my child to attend?
    Camp Bulldog provides all supplies for all activities. Children should bring their own lunches and water bottles each day.
  • How should I share my child's medical information or allergies with Camp Bulldog’s staff?
    There is a question on our registration page about medical information and allergies. Please ensure you complete this if your child has anything staff need to be aware of. If your child requires an Epipen or inhaler, please be sure to send that into camp (labelled) and give it to your child’s group supervisor at drop-off directly. Each Epipen will follow the child throughout the day.
