Voices across the world. Together we can build a better world.

Voices across the world. Together we can build a better world.

We all have a voice, and we can use that voice to speak out in the face of injustice, to show others they are not alone, to inspire action. Together our voices are stronger. Together we can build a better world.

Students at the BIS Houston were invited to use their power of visual arts to tell the world about the issues that they care about the most, and in celebration of the UN International Day of Education, selected NAE students will have their education advocacy pieces put forward to be published on UNICEF’s Voices of Youth platform.

Voices of Youth is a dedicated platform for young content creators who advocate for children’s rights.

The selected pieces from the advocacy areas will then be published on the Voices of Youth platform on 22nd April for Earth Day, and 25th April for Immunisation week, respectively.

Meet our three BIS Houston finalists for the UNICEF ‘Voices of Youth’ Illustration for Advocacy competition Year 8 students: Anevay, Ava and Tanisha, who will now be considered for global publication.

Our exceptionally talented visual arts students are raising their voices on the issues that matter to their generation and calling for adults to create a better future.

Tanisha | Year 8 | British International School of Houston

Nobody can take my rights away

My piece is about the sexism and racism that goes on around the world being caused by people who think their opinions are worth more than others declaring that people of a different skin color or gender should be shoved around and treated like dirt just because of who they are.

Ava | Year 8 | British International School of Houston

Life below water

This is my piece related to life below water. I decided to chose this topic because I believe that litter in the ocean is a crime not only to our beautiful waters but the sea creatures that call it home.

Anevay | Year 8 | British International School of Houston

We have to get a grip on Covid-19!

My piece of art shows all the losses people have made through Covid-19 but also how many people needed to go on the intensive care unit and how many nurses worked so hard in this time and that we should be thankful about that. Now it’s about us to stop the virus from spreading out more and more. Think about what we have been going through and get vaccinated!

At BIS Houston we use our global reach and collaborations to shape a generation of creative and resilient global citizens, a generation that will lead new and creative solutions to some of the world's big problems.

Congratulations to our three finalists for the UNICEF ‘Voices of Youth’ Illustration for Advocacy competition Year 8 students: Anevay, Ava and Tanisha. They are a generation that will help change our world for the better.
