We are proud to share that The British International School of Houston (BIS Houston) has been named a finalist in the Investors in People Awards 2026 Best Culture Award category.

Over the past two decades, BIS Houston has evolved to reflect our global community. Today, our school is home to families from around the world, bringing together different perspectives, experiences and aspirations.

As we approached our 25th anniversary, we saw an opportunity to reflect on who we are and how we can continue to grow as a learning community.

Through extensive consultation with students, parents, employees, alumni and community stakeholders, we developed a renewed vision that reflects the voices of our community and our shared ambitions for the future:

This vision is supported by guiding statements that place exceptional learning, wellbeing, belonging, leadership, innovation and community partnership at the heart of everything we do.

Turning Vision into Action

What makes this recognition particularly special is that our culture is built through action and shared experiences across our school community.

One of the most significant examples is our 25,000 Hours Initiative, launched in honour of our 25th anniversary. Students, families and employees worked together to contribute 25,000 hours of service to the Houston community.

Projects have included supporting community events for elderly residents experiencing loneliness, participating in environmental restoration initiatives, and partnering with local organisations to make a positive impact across Houston.

These experiences have helped strengthen the connections between our school and the wider community while giving students opportunities to lead, serve and make a difference.

Our Annual Parent Survey recorded a Net Promoter Score of 61, with parents highlighting the school's welcoming environment, strong teacher relationships and supportive international community.
