BIS Houston Achieves NEASC Re-Accreditation

The British International School of Houston has successfully achieved re-accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), one of the world's leading accrediting bodies.

This recognition follows an extensive review process, during which NEASC visitors spent time in our neighbourhoods, met with students, staff and parents, and explored every aspect of school life. Their conclusion was clear: BIS Houston is a thriving learning community where students are known, valued, challenged and inspired.

A Culture of Belonging and Collaboration

What stood out most prominently in the report was not simply our academic provision, but the culture that defines our school.

The visiting team described BIS Houston as having a "friendly welcoming culture" where students' "sense of belonging, feeling seen and being known shone through." They praised the "culture of collaboration between students, staff and parents" and noted that our commitment to inclusion and belonging is so strong that it could serve as a model for other schools.

Exceptional Learning Throughout the School

The team observed exceptional learning throughout the school, highlighting the "huge amounts of inquiry and engagement" taking place in classrooms and noting that "you can't help but get excited with students when you are in their classrooms."

They recognised the confidence of our students, the quality of collaboration they demonstrate, and the breadth of opportunities available to them both inside and beyond the classroom.

Parents and students played an important role in the accreditation process, and their voices featured strongly throughout the review.

Families spoke about children feeling welcomed, supported and valued, while the visitors repeatedly commented on the profound care and wellbeing demonstrated by our staff.
