BIS HOUSTON

OUR HOUSE SYSTEM

The House system at the British International School of Houston is designed to connect students, teachers, and staff through a common identity, cause, and activity.

Our community at the British International School of Houston is divided into four different school Houses that are based on the elements:

We promote a healthy, competitive spirit throughout a variety of activities that connect our students across all year groups – engaging them in meaningful relationships with one another. We make every effort to balance the Houses within all areas of our school, but families are automatically members of the same House when they arrive.

House points can be awarded to a student who makes above expected progress, shows improvement, or takes a leadership role.

Many House competitions and charity drives are held throughout the year, and students have the opportunity to enter events and achieve points towards their House team. Every event earns house points, which are collected over the year and updated on the House notice board.

Each House has a designated member of staff, who is the House Leader. Their work is supported by student House Captains, who promote cooperation and healthy competition throughout the BIS Houston community.

At the end of the year, the House that accrues the most points earns the award of a prestigious House Cup.

Upon joining our school your child will:

  • become an important part of our school community from their very first day.
  • engage in opportunities to lead, participate, and serve.
  • get to know students from all year groups.
