Strong GCSE and A Level Results Reflect Student Progress at The British School of Tashkent

At A Level, 51% of grades were awarded at A/A*, compared with 28.3% nationally in England this year. The results also place BST slightly above the Nord Anglia Education average, while 77.1% of grades were awarded at A*-B.

The results are particularly encouraging given the diversity of the cohort and the different stages at which students joined the school.

Success, wherever the journey begins

Some of this year's A Level students have been part of the BST community since their primary years. Others joined much later in their education, including students who arrived during Key Stage 4 or Sixth Form and had previously studied within a different education system.

Almost half of the A Level cohort joined BST in Key Stage 4 or later. For these students, adapting to a British curriculum and a new approach to learning while preparing for important examinations can be a significant transition.

Their results demonstrate that students can make that transition successfully and go on to achieve highly at BST.

At the same time, the results highlight the value of a long-term education at the school. Among A Level students who joined BST during their primary years, 85.7% achieved at least one A/A*, with many achieving multiple top grades.

Together, these results reflect an important part of the BST experience: students arrive with different starting points, experiences and ambitions, and are supported to make progress and achieve their potential.

Strong foundations at GCSE

The story begins well before Sixth Form. This year's GCSE students also achieved strong results, particularly in Mathematics and English.

100% of BST students achieved A-C in Mathematics*, with 47% achieving A*/A. In English, 96% achieved A*-C, with 49% achieving A*/A.

These outcomes reflect a continued focus on understanding students' individual starting points and providing targeted support to help them progress. Value-Added Target Setting, informed by CAT4 data, alongside intervention classes across subjects, has helped the school identify areas for development and support students in making further progress.

Every achievement matters

While we are incredibly proud of the students who achieved the highest grades, we are equally proud of every student who worked hard to achieve the results they needed to secure their next steps. For many, this meant earning the grades required to secure places at excellent universities and pursue the subjects and careers they are passionate about.

Every student's journey is different, and these results represent the dedication, resilience and hard work of the whole cohort, supported by their teachers and families throughout their time at BST.
