British Vietnamese International School, Hanoi:  First set of International A level grades are stunning! British Vietnamese International School, Hanoi:  First set of International A level grades are stunning!

Our first group of students have achieved excellent results in the International A Level Programme for the 2017/18 academic school year.
“As with our IGCSE results, I have enormous pride in what our students have achieved”, writes the Principal of BVIS Hanoi, Mr Mark Sayer.  “This ‘Class of 2018’ have remained largely unchanged since the school opened, keeping close bonds with each other, and benefiting hugely from our approach to bilingual education that makes our school so unique.”
“Their results, mirroring the UK averages for 2017-18, are truly excellent.  It quite clearly shows us that the students, without a single native English speaker amongst them, have gained a deep level of linguistic competence in English without losing any proficiency in their mother tongue.  These results now allow the students to go on to their first choice universities, and on to a bright future."
“Many congratulations to them and to their teachers for the excellent relationships formed and the diligence in preparing the students so well for the next phase of their academic journeys.  These students have made their parents and school very proud, and we wish them all the best on their future studies.”

Our students' scores in the International A Level Programme was 26% A*/A grades, with 97% of students gaining A* to E grades.

Nearly 10% of this cohort achieve all A* or A grades.  Particular subject strengths are seen in Art and Design, Computer Science, Mathematics, the Sciences, Economics and English; these results far exceeding the global averages for schools sitting the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE).

Andy Puttock, Education Director of Nord Anglia Education, said, “We have seen improvements across the board, with results boosted by many of our new schools offering A levels for the first time.  It has been our best year by a long way. We have always been slightly ahead of global averages at A*/A and A*/B but this time we smashed them – at A*/B increasing from 56% to 67%. Best of all, we beat the global average A*-E pass rate for the first time since 2014.

This excellent outcome is not only due to the students’ efforts but also the incredible hard work put in by the school’s teachers throughout the year to ensure our children experience the best in learning.”

The International A Level programme, commonly referred to as A Levels, is a two-year education programme for students age 16-19. The programme is a widely accepted and recognised qualification for entry into over 1,400 celebrated higher education and universities worldwide. To learn more about the International A Level Programme, you can visit the CAIE website here, and particularly the global recognition of the qualification here.

Once again, congratulations to our students on your hard work!
