Important Information

Dear parents,

I wanted to write to you to keep you informed of our plans once our school re-opens.

While virtual classes continue through our e-learning platforms, we are also considering a range of options to make up lost learning time when our school re-opens. These options will be partially dependent on the timing of re-opening in the school year, but may include a slightly longer school day or, in some cases, weekend lessons.

Needless to say, we will continue to keep you informed about school opening dates and provide precise details nearer the time.

For those of our students taking their IB Diploma this year we continue to provide as much individualised support as possible in school, and our central education team are liaising closely with the examination boards to make sure that extra consideration can be given to those students across our school network who have been seriously impacted by the Coronavirus situation. We will give the parents concerned full information as and when it becomes available.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards,

Tom Ferguson

Wellbeing During Coronavirus_Bilingual

7 February 2020

Dear parents,

Hope you are all well wherever you are.

Following the latest guidance from the Chinese Government, schools are unlikely to re-open during the month of February in Chengdu. We all want to be back in our school, but only when it’s safe to do so. School staff have been working hard to ensure online learning materials are available for your child and this started on the 3rd February.  Please check all the school platforms (Seesaw, Managebac) and emails for more details. If any parent or student experiences difficulty in accessing the programme of work, please can you contact either our Head of Secondary, Steven Pass at or our Head of Primary, Richard Wilkinson at directly.  If your question relates to a specific subject or class, I would ask that you contact the subject or class teacher.

The school is now rescheduled to open on 2nd March. The online learning will continue to be supported by your teachers before we return to school. Upon our return, we will also be looking at additional opportunities that we can provide to help support students’ learning.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this message. We will continue to keep you updated on this difficult and fast evolving situation.

Coronavirus Update and FAQ:

Thursday 6th February 2020

Dear parents,

Given the rapidly changing situation regarding the Coronavirus outbreak in China, we want to outline our approach to ensuring your child’s education is disrupted as little as possible, while keeping our school communities safe.

Despite a longer duration of school closure than originally anticipated, the provision of e-learning will continue at our school and our staff and teachers are committed to ensuring this is of the highest quality and matches the normal curriculum as closely as possible. We are also encouraging students to stay connected to their school network through Global Campus.

Our guidance will always follow the recommendations and requirements of all relevant government bodies and health authorities. Please look out for any communications from our school with the latest updates.

Please find attached an FAQ document, which we hope provides guidance and reassurances.

Thank you for your support and understanding and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours faithfully,

Coronavirus Update: Monday 27th January 2020

Dear Parents

I would like to bring you up-to-date on school plans and the latest information available to us as
we respond to the requests of the Chengdu Education Bureau. I would ask that you check your
mail regularly as we will continue to update as we receive new information.
At present, the school is set to re-open to all year groups on Monday 17th February 2020.

From Monday 3rd February until Friday 14th February, staff will be providing e-learning
opportunities and work for students to support their continued learning. There will doubtless be
challenges involved, but we are keen to focus upon the learning of students as a priority. We
expect students to participate and complete the learning tasks set and welcome your support in
helping your child to engage in them. For primary pupils, teachers will communicate activities
using SeeSaw, so please look out for these on your SeeSaw App. Secondary students will receive
their work via Managebac and/or email from the class teacher.

For Grade 12 students, we will contact the IBO and exam boards so that they are aware of the
circumstances and we anticipate they will work with us should we need to change deadlines.
Please be assured our skilled and experienced team will ensure your child is fully prepared and
remains on track for their examinations this summer.

We will also need to cancel some trips out of the school. We will provide details of these in the
weeks ahead, but at this stage, I can confirm that Nord Anglia Regional Events, including our two
STEAM Festivals (Beijing & Puxi) and Volleyball (Beijing) will be cancelled, as well as our ACAMIS
Basketball tournament in Wuxi. We are also looking to delay the start of clubs in order to
minimise the number of external visitors to our campus. Our operational team will be working to
ensure that additional deep cleaning of the school campus takes place so that we are fully
prepared to accept students when the school re-opens.

Meanwhile, the Parent/Teacher Conference on February 17 will be rescheduled later.

Thank you for your patience and support during this time and I do wish you and your family a
happy and healthy Chinese New Year.

Best wishes,

Tom Ferguson
