During club sessions on Tuesdays, we have come up with different ways which could help spread awareness about the bears. We will be doing a walk-a-thon, providing prizes for those who complete the activities, which will help spread awareness about the moon bears. We also have a team who are painting bear paws on rocks, and lastly, a team emailing other NAE schools in China. We hope to visit the Animals Asia site again soon to give the bears toys, understand the protection methods, and see our sponsored bear.
Last semester, students in the Animals Asia club focused on creating artwork to donate to Animals Asia, a company centred around protecting endangered animals in Asia. They created a variety of different artwork of the moon bears, which we sent to the company and are currently in the Animals Asia museum.
Last year, students from the club visited the Animals Asia site, and they saw some moon bears themselves. While they were at the site, they decided to sponsor one of the bears through support from ACAMIS. Its name is ‘Birrigai’ and how the sponsorship works is that every month or so, we donate a certain amount of money to Animals Asia, and the money is used to take care of Birrigai.
