We hope the start of the school year has gone well for you and your children. In addition to the Meet the Teacher session on Saturday, September 8th, we will be hosting two IB parent presentations.
Every month, the school will focus on one of the Learner Profile traits of the IB. The month of September will focus on the Communicator. The Learner Profile is central to the IB philosophy, and we will be encouraging our students to communicate with students in their grade level as they go off on the China trips. We will also be asking them to communicate the information they learned on the trips in a presentation to the rest of the grade levels.
IB MYP Candidate School
Grades 6-10 (Middle Years Programme): Message from Mr Brown, IB MYP Coordinator
I will also be hosting an introduction to the MYP Assessment criteria on Wednesday, September 12th at 2PM in the Multi-Function Room. This session will be especially valuable to families that are new to the MYP or anyone that would like to learn more about the assessment and reporting process at the school.
As we go through the process of MYP Self Study to become an authorized MYP school, I will also be asking for parent volunteers to be on the self-study team with our school staff. If you would be interested in working on the process or would like to know more about it, please give me an e-mail at Jarrett.firstname.lastname@example.org.
IB Diploma Programme
We are also pleased to inform you that our IB Diploma Programme has been in place successfully now for five years and we are undergoing our official five year programme review. Like with the MYP self study for authorization, we will review our Diploma Programme and would like parents and students involved. Look for more information about a meeting to review our IB Diploma Programme(DP) philosophy. If you are interesting in volunteering to serve on our DP philosophy committee, please let me know. In addition, I will be reaching out to parents whose children have already graduated from our Diploma Programme as your reflection will be most insightful. Michele.email@example.com.
On Wednesday, September 26 at 2pm in the Multi-function room, I will be hosting my annual presentation on the IB Diploma Programme and on our University process. This is open to all parents, but my target audience is grade 10-12 parents. My slides will have some Chinese and Korean translations and we will have bilingual speakers present to help with questions after the presentation. In addition, I will host separate Chinese and Korean sessions later in the fall.
