Last week Tuesday, Léman International School hosted the CISA volleyball tournament. A total of 4 schools participated for this tournament. Meishi, QSI and CDIS all played at Leman from 10 am to 5 pm. Games were best of 5 sets ; girls and boys played at the same time with many spectators watching. Parents, teachers and students were in attendance, to support Léman’s U19 volleyball teams. Leman girls fought very hard and played one more game than the boys. They finished in second place. Boys played 2 games. They beat QSI to go to the final, but lost to CDIS in 3 sets to come in second place. Both teams played amazing and with tremendous effort, which they will repeat at ACAMIS in Beijing. Thank you to all the parents who came to support the teams and to the physical education department who made this event possible.

It’s cross-country season at Léman! We are so lucky to have an amazing cross-country running course around our beautiful campus. PHE classes have been running this course recently in preparation for a trio of upcoming events which we will be hosting. The first is our House cross-country day next Thursday, November 8th. Every student will partake in this fun and exciting day. Students will run for enjoyment, for fitness, for (all-important) House points and for a chance to qualify for the CISA cross-country competition. Students who joined up for cross-country as a Season 1 club will have priority, but we will look to fill out our roster with Léman’s fastest students. There will be 8 spots for girls and 8 spots for boys in each of the U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U19 categories. Beyond PHE classes, students who want to practice during the week will have the opportunity to run at lunchtime.
We will host CISA cross-country on Tuesday, November 13th and ACAMIS cross-country on Saturday, November 17th.
We have big news to report; our Léman Red Pandas boys U19 Volleyball are ACAMIS Champions!
Last weekend, we travelled north to Beijing to compete in the ACAMIS Silver Division Volleyball Championships. A thrilling weekend ensued. Our boys team navigated the three day tournament in style and finished off by beating the host team in a very noisy gym. This is our first ACAMIS Championship and we are thrilled with the work of the team and grateful to our coaches, Mr. Guo and Ms. Shill. Our girls also had a great weekend, but lost a heartbreaker of a quarterfinal to end their championship dreams. They showed a lot of resilience by bouncing back from that and winning their final two games to finish the weekend with four wins and two losses, ending up in 5th place. Mr. McCabe would like to thank the girls for their hard work all season. We are primed to join the boys atop ACAMIS next season.
Season 2 sports
Our second season of Red Panda sports is rapidly approaching. The U19s will have basketball and the U15s will have volleyball. Practices will start the week of November 19th. We are looking forward to another great season of hard work and success from our amazing student-athletes.
Go Red Pandas!
