This year for the Grade 11 CAS trip, the students will be supporting a newly built nursery in the village of Walang Sumdho near Kangding. The nursery presently supports 22 Tibetan children and would welcome the support of the Leman community. The Grade 11 students will be working with the children to enable them to develop their skills and language. The students will also be providing practical services such as painting walls and simple DIY. The trip will begin on the 8th of September. The Leman students will be traveling to the village by bus and are therefore in the unique position of being able to take educational supplies directly to the nursery. The nursery leader has asked for the following donations;
- Heaters for classrooms
- Children’s story books
- Children’s toys
- Children’s learning tools
- Towels and blankets
The Leman students will be running two bake sales on Monday 19th September and Monday 26th September to raise funds for paint and building materials for their shower block and new primary school building. We would greatly appreciate the support of the Leman community with the aforementioned donations, cakes for the bake sales and by supporting the bake sales through your children.
This CAS project is organised by the Grade 11 students with the help of Extravagant Yak and is an important part of their IB Diploma, encouraging global awareness and as well as organisation and collaboration skills. Any support that parents are able to give will be immensely valued. Nursery donations and cake donations can be brought to homerooms where they will be collected by the Grade 11s.
