Welcome to the English Language Acquisition Program!
What a great year! Our students have really worked hard at developing their English language skills. Since the 6-8 LA group is so diverse this year, they have had to learn to work together to communicate. One of their toughest and favorite assignments this semester was Travel writing. They all had a wonderful time presenting their dream vacations to EAL.
Peter and Humfrey listening to Ms. Chloe’s new travel writing assignment.
Dorinda is learning some new vocabulary for her writing project.
Jimmy, Grade 6, getting ready to write a summary for his reading assignment in Writing Enrichment.
Rex and Patrick are caught in a moment of focus.
William and HoYuan get to cook delicious food during our Enrichment. Better bring some food back to EAL, guys!
Hello from Modified Programs!
We are happy to report that the grade 6s have their new potato plants and will be gardening soon. In Science, the 6s are exploring how plant life developed on Earth over 420 million years ago.
They have also had a lot of fun creating advertisements for Language and Literature this semester. They are using the skills from persuasive writing to convince their peers to buy their products.
Grade 6 Individuals and Societies just completed a long unit on Ancient Greece. They learned everything from mathematics to Alexander the Great. The students did a wonderful job researching and producing some excellent 3d models. Now we have begun our new unit on Map-making and graphing skills. We have begun collecting yearly weather data, from different regions around the world, and building climate-graphs. The grade 7s have also been investigating climate and weather in their Individuals and Societies with Ms. Chloe as well.
Again, one of the most creative classes, 7th Language and Literature (MP), has been preparing the production of a Murder Mystery Dinner Party for an evening of terror with the LFA. They have already written their script! Lastly, now that grade 7 Science (MP) has completed the unit on Elements, the class has begun investigating Infectious Diseases.
Here Claire, Max, and Gesa (Grade 7) are working hard while Shirley checks papers.
We “Periodically” do work around here.
Grade 6 conducting a survey, while grade 7 Language and Literature is writing the script for their upcoming school play.
We are always busy researching and asking questions. Here in Grade 7 Modified Science we are learning how to make Wanted Posters for our Infectious Disease unit and rehearsing for their final presentation of the year.
