A fun and challenging STEAM Week at BIS Hanoi Last week students from Years 1 to 6 participated in the Virtual STEAM Challenge. For three days, one per phase group, a prerecorded video launched the challenge. Each student was required to research, and then perform a scientific experiment whilst filming and presenting a ‘TV show’. They were encouraged to watch an episode of Emily’s Wonder Lab on Netflix for inspiration.

Last week students from Years 1 to 6 participated in the Virtual STEAM Challenge. For three days, one per phase group, a prerecorded video launched the challenge. Each student was required to research, and then perform a scientific experiment whilst filming and presenting a ‘TV show’. They were encouraged to watch an episode of Emily’s Wonder Lab on Netflix for inspiration.  

On Monday, it was Phase 3's turn to complete the competition; over 60 videos were submitted for the task. There were some incredibly creative videos captured, with the students clearly showing their enjoyment of learning and sharing their knowledge.

Thursday saw Phase 1 students (and their parents!) accomplish their tasks. They have carried out some incredible scientific experiments using basic materials and equipment found in their home. As seen in their submitted film, the experimental findings were extraordinary. Again, the student's enthusiasm for studying and working in front of the camera was clearly evident.  

The week was rounded off with the largest phase in school completing the challenge. Year 3 and Year 4 students grasped the mantle and steamed head-on into the challenge. Lots of excellent experiments were performed. By the end of the weekend, they had submitted over 130 videos demonstrating their science, technology, and TV presenting skills!  

Overall, we have received over 300 videos showcasing our students' outstanding abilities. All of the videos will be edited this week and will be compiled into a showreel to be displayed around the school when the circumstances allow. 

Last week has been a wonderful time for our students to immerse themselves and discover the world of science. Thank you to everyone who participated in this challenge, we hope you had a great time.
