As I write this I am thinking about the term that we have all just had, and feel an immense amount of pride at what we have collectively achieved since August.
The term finished this week with another busy but exciting set of events.
On Monday we had our annual athletics sports day at the My Dinh stadium. It was wonderful to see the entire school in a different context, with all students taking up the challenge of representing their houses across the many disciplines of athletics. There was a terrific atmosphere of support for each other as the students really tried their best at running, jumping and throwing. There was also an intense tug of war competition which was great fun. In the end the house with the most points from all of these events was Hanoi, so congratulations to them. I would like to thank all of our domestic and maintenance teams for helping set up the day, and to Mr Perry and all of our PE staff for organising the day.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we were raising money for charity. The Blue Dragon t shirt day was followed by our incredible Christmas market. This day was completely student organised, with students designing and managing stalls - for the day we had 50 individual businesses being run! From soaking teachers with water to Shun’s Sausages, it was a brilliant day which saw us raise 49 million VND for Blue Dragon and Operation Smile. My thanks go to the Heads of Houses, Ms Alicia, Mr Nick, Mr Jason and Mr Ally for all of their efforts in making this such a special occasion.
And so we have come to the end our first term. As many of us prepare to celebrate Christmas with our families I am amazed at the many things we have achieved over the past five months. Book week, sports fixtures, ECAs, field trips, enrichment day, year group trips, D of E trips to name but a few, all on top of day to day great teaching and learning.
For those of you who celebrate Christmas I wish you and your families a lovely time. I look forward to seeing you all again in the new year for another term of amazing learning at BVIS.
