On Tuesday, the Year 10 IGCSE PE group worked together on the climbing wall, teaching and coaching each other. At one point, the climbers were blindfolded so that they had to trust their partner and listen carefully to instructions. I was impressed to see how much they progressed because of their group work and how they used their leadership skills to secure the improvement of individuals. On Thursday, Year 7 students showed prospective parents round the school. They were taking responsibility for answering questions and promoting what we do. They were also training up new students to do this role. Global companies want students to have acquired these lifelong skills during their school years. Both teamwork and leadership are central to a small company's success, as the director’s role is to lead the company's initiatives, but valuable feedback from team members will help him/her make sound decisions. Only through effective teamwork, will products and services reach customers. In today’s world, almost everything is accomplished by teams! I am proud to see how quickly students here are developing into true leaders but how successful their teamwork is as well!
This Thursday, Year 11 students were given the opportunity to talk to 4 Year 13 students from BIS. It was a great opportunity for them to get tips about how to revise, to hear first-hand about their experiences in taking ‘real’ exams and also to hear more about studying A Levels and applying for Universities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank BIS for taking time to come over!
