Mr Mark Sayer Weekly Update 6/5/2016

06 May 2016

This week has seen what many have described as one of the biggest sporting achievements in UK sporting history.

  • BVIS Hanoi School News 20160506
  • Leicester City champion of the Premier League 2015-2016
  • Penguin Project BVIS Hanoi backdrop

Even if you are not interested in football then I am sure that you will have heard of teams like Manchester United, Arsenal and many other teams. Have you heard of Leicester City? Leicester City are now the champions of the English Premier League having been one of the favourites for relegation and an amazing 5000/1 to win the league! To put those odds into perspective the discovery of the Lochness monster is 500/1!

The reason for me highlighting Leicester City is that they perfectly demonstrate that it is possible to achieve your goals in life no matter what obstacles are in your way. Leicester City do not have the same  resources as the majority of teams in the league but what they do have is commitment, desire and a great team ethic that has allowed them to win the league. Expectations also played a great part in their success as they didn’t listen to the “experts” and had the ambition to aim for the top of the league.

In many ways, BVIS shares the same values as Leicester and underpin all that we do as a school. For example, in Project Penguin, featured in last week’s update, we have demonstrated our ambition to tackle climate change through great team work and commitment by our staff and students. In the last week alone, our students have raised over 21,240,000 VND that will go towards environmental projects; an amazing achievement! As part of Project Penguin, I would also encourage you to visit Royal City at 10am tomorrow morning to see our students perform an amazing flash mob dance dressed as penguins! It should be a marvellous occasion.

I wish you a very happy weekend.
