Last week, we were delighted to celebrate last Year’s IGCSE students by presenting them with their official certificates. The event was hosted by the UK ambassador and we were honoured to have Mr Giles Lever, the UK Ambassador attend the presentation and speak to the students. This was a record set of IGCSE results and we are all so proud of their achievements.
Last week also saw our visiting artists from Juilliard visit the school. It was wonderful to have the Patterson/Sutton duo lead workshops and perform live for many of our students. The combination of cello and guitar was very memorable and has given students a taste of a new instrument, essential in any orchestra.
We also hosted our Year 11 International A Level options evening at which we were able to welcome parents to give them more information about the choices we offer after IGCSE. My thanks to Mrs Murray Smith for organising this and to all the Heads of Subject who spent time explaining their subjects to the students and parents. My thanks also to Mr Widemann, our University Guidance Counsellor, who gave an outline of how we support the students in the university application process. Here is a reminder to all of our Year 9 and 11 students that the deadline for the completion of their option forms is December 4th.
Our Duke of Edinburgh International students have been involved in expeditions over the last two weeks. Last week, our Silver Award students completed their assessed expedition to La Vie Vu Linh and this weekend sees our Bronze Award students doing their expedition at Nam Cang. My thanks to Mr Lincoln, Ms Bower, Mr Waldron and Ms Phuong Duong for all their hardwork in making these trips happen.
On Wednesday evening, we welcomed the Year 12 and 13 parents for a Parents’ Evening and next week we welcome the Year 11 parents. These evenings are really important check points to enable us all to support the students as they approach their mock exams in January. Thank you to all the parents that attended.
On Wednesday, we launched preparation for our annual Christmas Market which will this year be held in the afternoon of Wednesday 13th December. The students, working within small house teams have to prepare their own stalls to try and raise money for charity. Already, there are an abundance of ideas, and I know that once again it will be an excellent event, and thank you in advance to all parents who are supporting this, I hope that many of you will be able to attend.
Plans are also in place for our annual Sports’ Day which will be held on Monday 11th December. Again, it would be great to see as many of you as possible attend this event to cheer on our athletes.
I wish you all a great week ahead.
