Just before the Christmas holiday, all of the Year 5 parents and children celebrated together. They held a party in a family restaurant and there was entertainment from the children and different prizes. This gave an idea to some of the children, it sparked their creativity. They wanted to organize a similar event but to raise some money for a charity, a charity they will participate in choosing. Over the last few months, four young ladies, Nhu Y, Kelly, Le Phuong and Minh Anh, have been busy organizing what is now going to be the Year 5 Charity Event on Sunday 5th March from 10am – 1pm to be held at Spring Park, within the Eco Park complex. This is not just a charity event for the children but also a huge learning activity as they learn what organisation is needed to put on an event. They have learnt and practiced so many leadership qualities. These girls have had a lot of help from their class mates and parents, two of them in particular, the mothers of Minh Tuan and Minh Anh. Throughout the process, the girls have requested meetings, created artwork, sought sponsorship and still have a lot more to do in the next week. They are just about to put posters around the school advertising the event and everyone is welcome to attend. If you can donate and take any good quality used toys then the children will add them to the charity stall. It promises to be an enjoyable occasion with games, food and entertainment so if you can support this initiative, please do go along; we are all very excited about it. They will be writing an article on their learning and success after the event.
Last week, we discussed a food survey that we were carrying out with the children to find their most and least favourite dishes. This is now complete and just needs some closer analysis. We will report on this next week along with some information from the food tasting taking place next Tuesday morning.
The school has also been alive recently with parents attending the many IPC exit points that we have become used to. It is a great way to share learning and celebrate the children’s success. You can always catch up with videos and photos on the Facebook groups of each year group. You can also read about the wonderful Year 2 exit point here. Thank you, as ever, for all the organisation and learning led and guided by the teachers and teaching assistants and to all of our parents who are able to come and support your children’s learning.
Have a great weekend.
