BVIS Hanoi students top UK average in IGCSE results for 2nd Year in a row Hanoi, August 25th, 2017 – For the 2nd year running, the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) students' results have exceeded the UK average IGCSEs (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) with 88.1% students achieving 5A*- C grades compared to the UK average of 66.3%.

2016/17 IGCSE results outperform UK average for 2^nd year running

Hanoi, August 25^th, 2017 – For the 2^nd year running, the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) students' results have exceeded the UK average for IGCSEs (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) with 88.1% students achieving 5A*- C grades compared to the UK average of 66.3%.

The IGCSEs are internationally-respected qualifications, studied by students aged 14-16 years old. Respected by employers and universities, they cover a broad range of core subjects including languages, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, creative, technical and vocational. These are amongst some of the most academically challenging qualifications currently on offer to 14-16 year-old students worldwide, with many candidates going on to study the International A-levels en route to the world’s finest universities.

The continued success in these 2017 IGCSE results is testimony to BVIS’s high academic standards, excellent teaching and the hard work and dedication of students and teachers alike. Students continue to significantly outperform UK national averages, with attainment levels increasing year-on-year. 

• 51.4% of all IGCSE grades achieved by BVIS students were at the highest levels of A* or A. This is 31.4% higher than the 2017 UK average of 20% (although it should be borne in mind there was a new grading system introduced this year in the UK).
• With a smaller cohort this year, the percentage of our students achieving 5A* - C grades, including English and Maths at IGCSE fell slightly to 88.1%, but the students achieved 100% pass rates in English (1^st Language), 97.6% in Maths and 100% in Additional Maths.
• Furthermore, 100% pass rates were secured in Art, Business Studies, English Literature, Geography, Physical Education and Combined Science.
