Juilliard School of Art Visit BVIS Hanoi

29 September 2017

  • juilliard

As a result of our collaboration with The Juilliard School (New York, USA) in which we aim to develop and encourage the performing arts amongst our students, BVIS International Hanoi will welcome two Juilliard Curriculum Specialists this year who will work closely with our teachers and students as we continue to develop our performing arts programs.

Hilary Easton - Director of Global K-12 Dance Programs, Faculty at The Juilliard School, and Contemporary Dance Choreographer

This is Hilary Easton’s second visit to BVIS Hanoi. Over her two-day visit, Hilary will demonstrate lessons from the Juilliard Creative Classroom curricula with students from Years 2, 4, and 7, including activities based upon the choreography of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. She will observe and support the teaching of dance and theater teachers Kaye Meakin and Olivia Hutchinson, helping to further acquaint them with the Juilliard Approach to classroom instruction. She will also lead an activity for the BVIS Dance Group (including a special presentation), and meet with the senior leadership team.

Paul Murphy – Curriculum Specialist, Trumpeter

This October, Paul returns to BVIS Hanoi for his fourth visit. Paul’s visit will include opportunities for continued professional development with music teachers, Sue Pogson and Emily Tulloh. He will also lead lessons drawing on activities from Juilliard Creative Classroom for Year 4 and Year 9 students. An experienced musician and educator, Paul will end his two-day visit by leading a special class for the school’s trumpet students.
