When anyone asks me to describe the Vietnamese people, one word always comes to mind and those who work with me will know this immediately. Proud. Immensely proud.
It is at this time of year, as the children prepare for the Tet celebrations, and the city prepares itself to welcome in the lunar new year, that we see just how proud a people you are. This was probably increased by 100% on Tuesday night as the whole city rocked with the amazing display by the national U23 football team. Congratulations for making it to the final, a second first in your history in just a week, a semi-final and now a final. We are all so proud for you and all our overseas staff were watching on hoping the penalty shoot-out went your way. Saturday could be another first and it will be a day we all remember; a day we are all so fiercely proud of what Vietnam can and has achieved. Go Vietnam!
It is at times like this that you realise the passion of people and the will to do well. It also brings people together in a unified theme. A school is able to do this and we think BVIS Hanoi does this really well. We have dedicated and passionate staff who manage the team of children to do their best, to take every opportunity to learn. This week I was dragged in to the classroom of 4V, by some of their children, to see the dinosaurs hatching, imagine that! This classroom is filled with learning about dinosaurs as they explore their topic of ‘Footprints from the Past’.
Inspired, passionate and proud. Three things always to be remembered about this school, this city, this country.
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday at the Tet fayre.
