BVIS finish top of the group at Annual BBGV Football Tournament

Last weekend, BVIS staffs entered the 6th annual BBGV football tournament. The Tournament is to contribute to the BBGV charity fund financing meaningful charity projects in Vietnam.

BBGV football tournament 1

There are 16 teams divided into four groups. BVIS Hanoi was in Group A with 3 other teams including KPMG, Thu Ha Company, and Savills. We started off in the worst possible scenario with several players pulling out of the tournament even before it began which put us at a severe disadvantage when compared to the other teams and their several substitutes who could bring the extra energy needed to carry them over the line. However, with the team we had and the tactics we had planned, we could spring a few surprises.

BBGV football tournament 2

Through some brilliant determination, gutsy tackling and a will to succeed, we were able to finish top of our group without conceding a single goal (one draw and two wins). The desire to play for one another and to put the effort in so not to let anyone down ran through the entire team proved effective.

In the end, BVIS team succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in the quarter final against a very fit and numerous in players Jardines football team. Nevertheless, it was a great day and could not be a better team building exercise.

BVIS staffs are not only excellent teachers  in class but also ambitious and passionate athletes on the pitch. They are the source of energy which inspires and nurtures our students to achieve more than they ever imagined possible. Congratulations on your success and thank you for your contributions to our BVIS Community!

I look forward to being part of the next BVIS team and hopefully any future successes we have. Mr. Jason Lincoln, EAL/History Teacher
