Dear Parents,

This week, we were proud to learn that one of our students, six-year-old Elsa Thien Long, was named as the winner of the 'Mini Miss Diamond Vietnam' pageant. She received this title during the grand finale of ‘Miss Diamond UK’, which was recently held in Britain. As a result, Thien Long will now have an opportunity to participate in the 'Miss World Diamond Contest', to be held in Las Vegas, USA, in mid-July. With the support of her parents, she immediately put her popularity to good use by promoting the charity 'Cancel Cancer Africa' during a fund raising event in the UK. We were delighted to hear that the judges were impressed by her level of spoken English and her parents kindly acknowledged the support that she received from BVIS to improve her skills in this area. We congratulate Thien Long and look forward to hearing news about her experiences in Las Vegas. Please use the link below to find out more:

So many of our hard-working Primary athletes enjoyed receiving positive feedback for their efforts during our Primary Sports’ Award Evening on Tuesday. We were delighted that our parents were there to support their children and join in this celebration of their achievements. It has been an amazing year and it was impressive to see that the majority of our Year 5 and 6 students had been given a chance to represent BVIS at external sporting events. I congratulate the children and staff on their outstanding success this year.

More sporting success was evident during the House Sports’ Days, held throughout this week for all Primary Year Groups. Every child's performance generates House points which are collated and count towards the final end of year House point scores. We eagerly wait to find out which House has won the prize of our end of year trophy.

Following on from their IPC topic 'Sensational', the children in Year 1 experienced for themselves how food is made, with a visit to Della Seta. It was an opportunity for the children to meet chefs, waiting staff, see inside a restaurant and make some pizzas. It was also interesting for them to learn about the style of an Italian/European meal. The children enjoyed rolling out the dough, choosing their pizza toppings and they waited eagerly for their pizzas to cook, so they could taste their delicious fare. Perhaps they will treat you to a homemade pizza over the weekend!
