Council of International Schools (CIS)

In July 2015 we were delighted to be officially informed that the school had been awarded CIS membership status with immediate effect.

  • BVIS Hanoi Curriculum Our Accreditations CIS (3)

Following a successful application for membership, the next stage is for full accreditation. Again this calls for more detailed information and for a further site visit. Normally this process to full accreditation will take a further 18 months. It is hoped that the deadline for this will be December 2016

The CIS vision is to inspire the development of global citizens through high quality international education: connecting ideas, cultures and educators from every corner of the world. Nearly 700 schools and about 500 colleges and universities representing 112 countries are CIS members. Out of those, fewer than 500 schools are fully accredited by the CIS. All CIS schools share the following ideals:

  • A desire to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens
  • A commitment to high quality international education

Accredited members must infuse their programmes and offerings with international and intercultural perspective so that students can move forward with the attitudes and understanding that will provide them with a solid base wherever their studies or work may take them. Primary and secondary school members must further commit to undertaking an ongoing external quality assurance process to enhance student learning.
