Music Teacher

  • B.Ed. Bachelor of Education: Academic – Irish and Music, St Patrick’s College of Education, Dublin City University
  • Specialised Elective: Making Music in the Classroom

Daithí Ó Ruaidh (David Ormond)

Daithí has not only been a professional teacher for the last decade, but also a musician, director and media presenter with extensive experience in classroom teaching, stage performance, studio recording and television. Upon graduation in 2011, he taught in Spain before returning to Ireland to turn his attention to teaching and music; not only as a form of expression itself, but as a powerful tool for second language acquisition, something he aspires to bring to his teaching in BVIS.

Daithí is very proud of his own heritage and culture and has dedicated his time to the promotion of the Irish language among his country’s youth. Daithí has used this experience to promote music and language learning in children and teenagers of all ages, through workshops given in schools throughout every corner of Ireland.

As a musician himself, Daithí plays a wide variety of instruments and tours internationally with his own critically acclaimed band, Seo Linn.  He has toured overseas, and performed for the President of Ireland, as well as the Vice President of the USA in 2016.  Daithí is also an actor and musical director on national television in Ireland.

Aside from music, Daithí’s passions lie in sport and languages. Aside from fluency in English and Irish, conversational Spanish and French, he looks forward to learning about Vietnamese language and culture.
