Before arriving in Hanoi in 2014, Berni worked in London for 8 years in various roles within the education sector. As well as teaching English and German at the German School, he also managed programmes at University College, London and worked together with a school in Nigeria to set up an IT centre to enhance the students’ learning environment.

Growing up bilingual, namely in English and German, he is a strong believer in languages being a key factor in children’s education, in order to prepare them thoroughly for their future. Enthusing students about languages is one of Berni’s main aims, as this turns learning a foreign language into a positive experience and ambition.

Berni is a keen sportsman and currently focuses on cycling. He enjoys cycling all over the country and has taken part in two races in Thailand. A podium place is the goal for the next year.
