Prague 12 Scholarships

We have two scholarship options available for students at our Libuš campus.

In cooperation with the Metropolitan District Council of Prague 12, the Prague British International School offers two scholarship options:

  • IGCSE & IB four-year study programme (Year 10 – Year 13)
  • IB two-year study programme (Year 12 - Year 13)

Selection Criteria

To obtain a scholarship at the Prague British International School – Libuš, a child must meet the following criteria:

  • Date of birth between 1. September 2006 – 31. August 2008 (IGCSE) or 1. September 2004 – 31. August 2006 (IB)
  • Czech citizenship or citizenship of an EU member state
  • Permanent address (Czech citizens) or residence (EU citizens) in Prague 12 for the past 3 years

Other Requirements

Applicants must also demonstrate:

  • excellent academic results to date
  • a certificate of good health from their doctor
  • excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • an outstanding talent in one or more extra-curricular areas: music, sport, other area of interest
  • the school results expected from a student educated under the PBIS curriculum
  • a positive attitude to the international cultural environment

Current PBIS students or former students who attended PBIS within the last 3 years prior to the scholarship application process are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. 

Interviews and Tests

Students will be asked to take: 

  • an English language test
  • a Mathematics test
  • a face-to-face interview

How to Apply

To start the application process, the following documents must be sent to the Admissions Manager:

  • a completed application form (see below)
  • a copy of the child's birth certificate
  • a Certificate of permanent address or residence of the child and her/his legal guardian within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12
  • a copy of child’s vaccination card and a certificate of good health (Posudek o zdravotní způsobilosti)
  • copies of reports from previous schools
  • A letter of motivation from the applicant explaining why she/he should get a scholarship at the Prague British International School (in English)
  • any other documents that may be useful for awarding a scholarship

Rules Governing Scholarship Awards

Persons entitled to apply for a scholarship for his/her child must be either a citizen of the Czech Republic, acting as the legal guardian for his/her child, provided that he/she as well as his/her child have permanent residence within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12 as of the date of submission of their application, or a citizen of an EU member state who has had residence together with his/her child within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12 for at least 3 years.

A scholarship worth 90% of the school fee shall be granted to a successful student during the period of school education pursuant to the curriculum of the Prague British International School, i.e. until completion of Year 13. A scholarship shall be granted during the whole period as specified above only on the condition of an uninterrupted permanent address or permanent residence of the scholarship holder in the Prague 12 Metropolitan District, his/her good academic results and conduct as well as acting in compliance with the PBIS internal school regulations.
