Join us for our Open Day | 22nd May 2024 | 16:00
Our summer of academic success continues at PBIS with fantastic PEARSON BTEC results following on from the strong IB grades last month.
Headline Figures:
· 100% Pass Rate
· A* Equivalent = 20%
· A*/A Equivalent = 33.3% (one third)
· A*-B Equivalent = 66.7 % (two thirds)
· Top 2 students awarded scholarships to study Sport Science at Durham University
· Arts students earned prestigious places at design schools in Barcelona and Germany
Again, a fantastic achievement by PBIS students, despite not being in school. This is a 100% coursework-based programme and to have completed the full programme and for some, work collaboratively on group creative projects, this is simply outstanding. All our external verifiers have commented on how well our students have achieved 'business as usual' despite the conditions they found themselves in.
Head of Libus Campus Jane Cordes said: "I am so proud of our students and all that they have accomplished. New records were set with two students achieving the highest possible grade of D*D*D*. All of the students are heading off to excellent universities and have already demonstrated that they have a flair in the career field they have chosen. I am expecting great things from this group of students and wish them all the very best in all that they do."
What is BTEC?
Pearson BTEC is a UK based qualification which is becoming more widely accepted across the world. The size of the programme determines how many A Levels it is equivalent to. Students at PBIS complete their BTEC as part of the IBCP.
Creative Media and Enterprise students completed a 2 A Level equivalent course and both Sport and Art Students completed the demanding 3 A Level Equivalent alongside their IBCP subjects.
This producing more UCAS points than the IBDP. Our 2 top students achieving D*D*D* - 3 x A* at A Level.
PBIS is the only school in the Czech Republic offering the BTEC programme.
It all started with her mother seeing a Latin American dance club next to Ioana’s kindergarten. As soon as she saw it, she immediately took five-year-old Ioana to try her first lesson. Years later, after hours of hard work and passion for Latin American and Ballroom dancing, Ioana became part of the Czech National Dance Team and until two years ago, when she decided to focus on her business studies within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, she was a successful dancer. Studying Business, Psychology, English, Spanish, Math, and Environmental Systems and Societies she is now focusing on her future and a new dream; to start her own perfume company.
The One Third Story Writing Competition was an opportunity for students across Nord Anglia Education schools to celebrate internationalism and multilingualism. With over 118 stories received from 42 schools, the competition was a huge success, and securing a runner up place is a tremendous achievement.
