Structure & Organisation

Our school is a sister school of the Prague British International School (PBIS), cooperating with it in many areas. We employ its extensive experience with English language teaching, and modern teaching and learning methods. Thanks to the everyday presence of the international community, the English language is naturally developed and immediately verified in practice. 

Organisation of the Academic Year

With respect to organisation and invoicing, the academic year is divided into three terms.

With respect to the Czech educational system, the academic year is divided into two semesters at the end of which pupils will receive a combined school report (marks and verbal assessment), including suggestions on how to work at home so as to further increase their level of knowledge.

Parents are informed about the study results of their children regularly through their school diaries and, in addition to this, within supplementary reports that are equal to British reports (e.g. the Settling In Report), corresponding to the standards of the British educational system.

The end-of-semester as well as end-of-year school reports include a supplementary verbal assessment of subjects taught in English. These are fully equal to those issued to pupils of PBIS, providing parents not only with detailed information on the level of knowledge of English acquired by their offspring, but also suggesting how to support them in their further learning efforts so they achieve even better results.

Teaching Staff

The teaching staff of CBZS and PBIS work together as one team. They participate in all conferences, staff meetings and parent-teacher meetings, equally sharing their duties as well as experiences. Its members assist, advise and support one another. Collegiality, mutual confidence and teamwork are commonplace in the everyday school life of our teachers.

School Events

A lot of interesting events both for children and their parents (coffee mornings, international evenings, Christmas concerts, drama performances, jumble sales, firework displays, etc.) are held during the school year, which positively contribute to the development of close relationships between the school, teachers and parents. Assistance from parents is very welcomed during these events. The Friends of School Association exists to help organise the aforementioned events and to represent parents within the school.

The school assemblies, where the whole Primary School (CBZS and PBIS) gathers and where the achievements of pupils from individual classes are presented, play a significant role in school life. Pupils’ parents may participate in individual assemblies and are always welcome there.

Another interesting event attended by the whole class, which parents are also invited to, is the class assembly. It is organised once a month, with individual classes taking regular turns in it. The themes for individual class assemblies are usually topics covered in the term in question. Here, we may come across historical themes (scenes from the reign of Princess Libuse, Henry VIII of England, the War of the Roses, etc.), dancing, or poetry or singing performances. Class assemblies are usually a great experience for children.
