Our Covid - 19 Measures

On this page, you can find all the latest information about the measures that we have implemented to protect our community from COVID-19.

Covid 19

The strength of a community is tested and determined during difficult times, and this year has challenged us in ways that no schools have ever encountered before. These experiences have made us stronger as a school and as a community and have also equipped us for the challenges that may lay ahead in the months to come.

Measures in place:

Update as of 20th September 2021

In accordance with Czech government regulations, on Thursday 9th September our school is open for face-to-face lessons for all year groups.

The guidelines for each section of the school from 20th September 2021

Nursery and Reception

Early Years students do not need to be tested. They are also not required to wear masks.

From Monday, September 20th, we will provide optional weekly antigen testing to all Year 1 - 13 students. Testing will take place every Monday morning or on the first day of the week following a holiday.

It is MANDATORY for all students to wear a mask in ALL areas except from their classrooms.

Outside: All students are encouraged to wear a mask outside.

All school activities, like school trips, as well as various extracurricular activities are possible with specific arrangements.

We will continue to follow guidelines and take all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of all students, colleagues, and the wider parent community at The Prague British International School as a matter of priority.

  • Minimum use of shared supplies.

  • Adherence to recommended guidelines for proper cleaning of our facility.

  • Disinfection stations situated around the school.

  • Hand washing facilities are available in the majority of classrooms with the exception of specialist facilities.

  • Disinfection protocols for high use areas scheduled throughout the school day and each evening.

  • Community education on classroom protocols.

Regular and thorough handwashing and availability of hygiene supplies.

  • In high use areas staff and students are required to wear a face mask- social areas, corridors, changing rooms, locker areas, theatre, library as examples.
  • Teachers may utilize face shields instead of masks in the classroom whilst teaching.
  • It is mandatory that children in Y1-13 wear their masks in the classroom.

  • All children should come to school with 2 masks (one to wear, one as spare).
  • Community education on correct personal hygiene (handwashing, coughing and sneezing properly).
  • Approved signage throughout the campus on handwashing.

  • Increased availability of supplies to support healthy hygiene guidance.

  • Additional sanitizer stations added throughout the campus and at all entrance points to the school.

Staff, students and parents should be alert for any symptoms of illness (fever above 38°C, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, the loss of smell and taste) and will be required to stay at home if not feeling well.

  • Community education on self-monitoring of possible covid-19 symptoms.
  • Any person exhibiting symptoms of COVID illness on campus will immediately be taken to the nursing areas and should be collected promptly by parents if they are sent home.
  • Recommendation to our students, staff and parents to self-assess in the mornings prior to arrival and before collection in the afternoon.

School Buses

Children travelling on school buses will be required to wear a mask on entry to the bus and sanitise their hands (parents who do not wish to comply with this should make alternative transport arrangements).

Hand sanitizer will be available on school- provided transport.

  • Current social distancing guidelines will be monitored and required in common areas.

  • Capacity limits will be in place in common areas (e.g. theatre) and there will be no parent attendance at assemblies during the initial return to school. We will aim to stream class assemblies in our Primary School.

  • Community education on guidelines for social distancing in schools.

  • Parents will NOT be able to come inside the school without an appointment.

  • Parent information sessions will mostly be held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS.

  • We ask all adults to adhere to social distancing regulations and wear a mask when picking up and dropping off students on the school grounds.
