EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND BELONGING

Everyone is welcome at Nord Anglia Education. Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) are embedded into our philosophy, across our schools, and throughout our organisation. This ensures that our global family of students, families, and colleagues feel seen, respected, and empowered to thrive.

CHAMPIONING INCLUSION AND BELONGING

At Nord Anglia, we champion Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) with the aim of changing communities for the better.

We believe that positive change happens when our students learn – and our colleagues work – in inclusive and welcoming environments where they are valued, respected, and recognised for their contributions. In these settings, EDIB is rooted in daily practices, interactions, and collaborations, rather than seen as an obligation.

At the heart of our EDIB vision is a commitment to treating everyone equally and on merit. Across the Nord Anglia family, we ensure recognition regardless of a person’s background, age, disability, neurotype, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and/or belief, or sexual orientation.

MAKING OUR EDIB VISION A REALITY

Our vision is underpinned by comprehensive EDIB guidelines, which has three central objectives.
Our Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging objectives are:
  • To construct an inclusive environment for everyone, which is free from discrimination, harassment, and exclusionary practices.
  • To emphasise the importance of inclusion and belonging, and ensure that everyone embodies and promotes our EDIB philosophy. This applies to every member of our community, including students, parents, teachers, and other third parties.
  • To encourage accountability for inclusive practices and systems in all our schools and workplaces, through regular action plans and by rigorously tracking progress.

OUR EDIB STRATEGY

To put our objectives into practice – and to realise our vision of creating communities where representation through diversity thrives, inclusion is embedded, and future generations are empowered to be inclusive leaders – we’ve created a three-pillared strategy.

Nurturing more diverse and inclusive leaders
We empower colleagues and students from all backgrounds to take on leadership roles in our schools and offices, representing the diverse communities we serve. We also support our leaders to model inclusion and create environments where all voices shape our collective success.

Educating generations for a more inclusive world
We create learning experiences that build our colleagues’ expertise and give our students a voice, empowering everyone to contribute to a fairer and more inclusive society.

EMPOWERING OUR STUDENTS

Nord Anglia’s EDIB vision aligns with our wider ambition to offer students a learning experience designed for the future – one that creates the next generation of thinkers, creators, leaders, and changemakers.
For students, our EDIB approach:
  • Develops their self-awareness of identity, nurturing individual strengths, learning styles, and ways of thinking.
  • Increases understanding of their unique purpose and how they can contribute to a fairer, more equitable world.
  • Creates opportunities to collaborate and learn alongside peers from diverse backgrounds, cultivating empathy, respect, and the ability to navigate difference.
  • Develops lifelong, critical skills, such as intercultural competence, inclusive leadership, advocacy, and global citizenship.
  • Unlocks pathways to higher education and global careers through exposure to diverse perspectives, role models, and networks.

INCLUDING OUR FAMILIES

Our parents are an integral part of our school and global communities. They bring diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures to Nord Anglia, helping us to shape learning environments and the education we offer.
For families, our EDIB approach:
  • Fosters meaningful connections between parents and diverse school communities through cultural events and activities.
  • Assures parents that their child’s integrity and unique identities will be respected, supported, and celebrated.
  • Creates communities with a shared purpose, where all parents value equality, social justice, and inclusion.
  • Affirms our commitment to diverse cultural, cognitive and real-world opportunities, which nurture our students’ empathy and sense of social responsibility.
  • Raises awareness of EDIB initiatives and community partnerships, as well as our commitment to advance equality, human rights, and sustainable change.

SUPPORTING OUR COLLEAGUES

Our incredible colleagues are the driving force behind our commitment to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. In every school and across our organisation, they live and breathe our philosophy and foster welcoming environments where everyone feels they belong
For colleagues, our EDIB approach:
  • Develops self-awareness of others’ identities, lived experiences, cultural lenses, and neurodiverse ways of thinking, empowering everyone to advance EDIB.
  • Develops key skills such as inclusive leadership, cultural humility, psychological safety, allyship, and advocacy for change.
  • Aligns personal purpose and values with our EDIB vision, enhancing a sense of belonging, wellbeing, and shared responsibility for creating inclusive environments.
  • Provides opportunities to engage, learn, and collaborate with diverse colleagues across Nord Anglia.
  • Opens routes to professional growth, providing access to inclusive networks, mentoring, training, and leadership opportunities.
