Dear CDS Families,

Words from our Director | 27 May 2022 | CDS Costa Rica - words-from-our-director

Covid Update
I need to begin this message with an important Covid update: positive cases in our community have increased significantly among all constituent groups – students, staff, and parents – to the highest amounts ever. While it’s difficult to pinpoint a cause, this community spike is likely correlated with the decree of optional masking earlier this month. Please help us regain a safe and healthy community by minimizing Covid infection risks at home, in social situations, on weekends, etc. We want all our students – notably our senior class of 2022 – to finish the year healthy and enjoy participating in the special events that conclude the year. On-campus we strongly recommend continued masking for all, especially indoors and in crowded spaces.

Congratulations Class of 2022!
Speaking of our Class of 2022, they will celebrate their graduation at a special Thursday evening Commencement ceremony, the 56th CDS class to graduate from our school. That evening will honor the 38 graduates of this unique generation, the first to have a full-fledged face-to-face, in-person ceremony since 2019 (2020 and 2021 were done drive-in style in the parking lot). Congratulations to all of our 2022 graduating seniors and best of luck in the next chapter of your lives in college and university!

Special Events
As this school year winds down into the last two weeks, we have enjoyed a number of impressive performing arts events that have showcased extraordinary student talent – wonderful choir and band concerts, and the musical play Pinocchio. Besides the quality of these performances demonstrating student talent, they highlight the incredible work of our teachers, who tirelessly motivate their students to achieve beyond their perceived limits. On Monday, our Primary students will enjoy watching Pinocchio at two special day-time matinee performances. And we look forward to other music-based events and transition celebrations – Prep, Grade 5, and Grade 8 Moving Up ceremonies – in the final weeks.

I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful weekend, the last one in the month of May.

With Panther Pride,
