Grade 5 students at Northbridge International School Cambodia recently undertook a project-based learning unit to design and program a podcast station for our school community.

They investigated the types of content our school community would be interested in listening to, and researched how podcasts are made and structured. They then had to write a script for their own group to record and publish a podcast segment.

Our first wave of episodes are now available and the students are looking forward to creating more episodes during the year.

Radio and podcasting is a great way to let students practice their communication skills in a different setting.

Many students find it difficult to speak publicly and present to an audience, but our recording studio gives students a chance to do just that in a different format.

It is useful as a differentiation tool, when students may have difficulty speaking in front of others and the teacher would otherwise be unable to get a true assessment of the student's oral communication abilities.

We also believe that content production skills are becoming important future workplace skills, with more and more fields relying on social media and online content to engage audiences.

Please have a look at the first episodes and check back regularly for new content!
