BIS HANOI ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

BIS Hanoi is an independent, co-educational day school. We offer places all year round to children aged from 2 to 18, and we’re open to students from all backgrounds and nationalities.

We’re a selective school, and we ask every child to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to follow our curriculum. English is the language of communication in our classes and corridors, and we want all our students to feel comfortable and confident in their English fluency.

APPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

After filling in an enquiry form and taking a tour of our thriving campus – either in person or online – we’ll ask you to complete your child’s online application. We’ll also need a selection of documents to get the process started.
  • Application Fee.
  • Signed Admissions Terms & Conditions.
  • Most recent school records in English (translated where applicable).
  • Learning Support assessment documentation (where applicable).
  • Digital passport style photograph of the student.
  • Copy of student’s passport or birth certificate.
  • Medical Record and Immunization Record.
  • Physical Evaluation signed by a doctor.

ASSESSMENT AND INTERVIEW

Once we’ve received your form and documents, we’ll invite your child to an assessment and interview with our Head of Primary or Secondary. The type of assessment will depend on your child’s age.


If your family is based overseas or can’t make it to our school, your child can sit their assessment online.

  • Early years students (Foundation 1-3): class observation.
  • Year 1 students: English as an Additional Language (EAL) test, class observation and interview our Head of EYFS.
  • Year 2 students: English as an Additional Language (EAL) test, class observation and interview our Head of Primary.
  • Year 3-6 students: writing test, CAT computer test, an English as an Additional Language (EAL), and an interview with our Head of Primary.
  • Year 7-12 students: writing test, Cambridge CEM test (The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring), an English as an Additional Language (EAL), and an interview with our Head of Secondary.

OFFERING YOUR CHILD A PLACE

All being well, you’ll receive a letter formally offering your child a place, which will include the date of their first day, along with a copy of our terms and conditions.

You’ll have a two-week window to accept this offer, with a non-refundable registration fee guaranteeing your child’s place in our school community.

If we can’t offer them a place because our classes are full, you’ll have the option to join our waiting list.
