It is that time of the year again where the students at Léman International School are busy competing in challenges and competitions provided through Nord Anglia Education. This year we are pleased to have the students participate in many existing and new challenges such as Creative Writing, Photography, STEAM, Visual Arts and the Global Challenge.
This week we have been very excited to kick off our MIT collaboration STEAM challenges for the year. We started with the Epic Identity challenge in grades 3 - 5.
For the IPC unit 'Express Yourself' in Grade 4 we have been learning about emotions, feeling, interactions with others etc. There is a science component as part of this unit where we look at the structure of the human body and some of its functions.
Mrs. Cheryl Heryes and Mr. Ben Lepp were on their way to New York City to once again attend a professional development opportunity that focuses on the Juilliard Dance Program.
Léman International School celebrated the graduation of our Grade 5 students. The ceremony was held to celebrate the next step for our students as they moved from the 5th grade to the 6th grade. This is a big step for our students as they are leaving primary and moving to a whole new world of secondary education.
We are delighted to announce that as a whole school, we have managed to raise a total amount of 7,856RMB for the Read to Feed programme. The money raised will be sent directly to Heifer International to help rural families within the Chengdu area to become more self-sufficient and help them to sustain their livestock.
May 30th, our entire student body performed and showcased their talents and skills in music, dance and drama. We are very proud of the outcome of our performances.
Our Annual Celebration has grown leaps and bounds with a showcase of 28 countries this year! A much cooler day than last year made for perfect weather outdoors. Léman was bursting with color, textures, tastes, music and games.
Grade 4 had a fantastic class trip to WeiRan Flower Sea. The school was invited by Chengdu Children’s League and Longquan District Government to send some pupils to experience the peach blossom festivities and have a friendship visit with the pupils from Longquan Experimental Elementary School.
We’re delighted to announce that we have welcomed seven new schools into our global family, further strengthening our ability to offer students around the world an outstanding education.
This week we had the privilege to work once again with our Juilliard Curriculum Specialist, Ms. Erin Wight, a world-renowned violist from New York. She left us with lots of positive feedback as she mentioned how impressed she is with our students. She witnessed how each of our Léman students manifests the Performing Arts Learner Ambitions and the hard work they have accomplished in a short period of time.
Welcome back to another exciting academic year for Nord Anglia Education. We look forward to seeing all the amazing challenges, activities and adventures our students and teachers will do this year!
